LAGOS, Nigeria, 19 March 2024-/African Media Agency (AMA)/-The Nigerian Women in Public Relations has unveiled its Keynote Speaker and a stellar lineup of partners and sponsors for its much-anticipated annual Experiencing PR Conference, set to take place on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024, at the Civic Centre in Lagos. 

The Keynote Speaker, Ndidi Nwuneli, is an expert in food ecosystems, entrepreneurship, social innovation, and youth development, and boasts over 25 years of international development experience. She is the founder of LEAP Africa and African Food Changemakers, and co-founder of Sahel Consulting Agriculture & Nutrition Ltd. and AACE Foods Processing & Distribution Ltd.

Le président de la Banque africaine de développement, Akinwumi Adesina, et le président de la Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, se serrent la main lors de discussions bilatérales sur l’appui de la Banque au développement de ce pays d’Afrique de l’Ouest.

ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire 19 Mars 2024 -/African Media Agency(AMA)/-Une délégation de sept administrateurs du Groupe de la Banque africaine de développement est arrivée en Sierra Leone pour une mission de consultation de cinq jours visant à approfondir le partenariat entre la Banque et le pays situé en Afrique de l’Ouest.

Menée par Mme Mette Knudsen, administratrice du Danemark, la délégation inclut Jonathan Nzayikorera du Rwanda, Rufus N. Darkortey du Liberia, Takaaki Nomoto du Japon, Martin Kipping de l’Allemagne, Nomfundo Ngwenya de l’Afrique du Sud et Samson Oyebode Oyetunde du Nigéria.

Cette mission s’inscrit dans le cadre du programme de travail annuel de la Banque et souligne sa détermination à maintenir un engagement fort avec ses pays membres régionaux, dont fait partie la Sierra Leone. Les administrateurs rencontreront de hauts fonctionnaires du pays, des représentants de diverses agences gouvernementales, des partenaires du développement, des organismes chargés de l’intégrité, des représentants du secteur privé, de la jeunesse, des femmes et de la société civile.

Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura, ministre des Finances de la Sierra Leone et gouverneur de la Banque, a accueilli la délégation et a déclaré que cela témoignait de l’engagement du pays à collaborer avec la Banque pour favoriser la croissance économique régionale, le développement et la coopération à travers l’Afrique.

La Banque africaine de développement entretient un partenariat de longue date avec la Sierra Leone, l’un de ses pays africains fondateurs. La Banque a lancé ses premiers projets en Sierra Leone en 1966-1967 avec une prise de participation dans la National Development Bank of Sierra Leone. Au fil des années, elle a joué un rôle déterminant dans la résolution des problèmes du pays, notamment en ce qui concerne les déficits d’infrastructure, le renforcement de la gouvernance, la diversification économique et le soutien à un développement intelligent face au climat.

Actuellement, le portefeuille de la Banque en Sierra Leone est axé sur l’amélioration de l’accès à des infrastructures de qualité et à l’électrification rurale, le renforcement du secteur agricole, la promotion d’une croissance inclusive et la création d’emplois par le biais du secteur privé, ainsi que sur le soutien aux jeunes et aux femmes dans leurs initiatives entrepreneuriales.

Parmi les projets notables, nous pouvons citer le projet d’approvisionnement en eau et d’assainissement de trois villes, qui a permis à 550 000 personnes à Bo, Kenema et Makeni d’avoir accès à de l’eau potable et à 46 851 étudiants d’avoir accès à des toilettes modernes. La Banque soutient également la réhabilitation et la modernisation des routes principales en Sierra Leone dans le cadre du programme multinational de développement routier et de facilitation des transports de l’Union du fleuve Mano.

Rufus N. Darkortey, administrateur représentant la Sierra Leone au sein de la Banque, est l’hôte de cette mission. Sa circonscription comprend également la Gambie, le Ghana et le Soudan. Mme Halima Hashi, cheffe du bureau pays de la Banque pour la Sierra Leone, se joindra à la délégation lors de ses entretiens avec les principales parties prenantes.
